Kelsey Davis – December 2021 Artist of the Month

Each year, we feature the work of artists affected by multiple sclerosis in our annual MSAA Art Showcase. We receive many wonderful submissions from across the country and are delighted to share the work of these artists and their inspirational stories with you, including highlighting one artist each month as our Artist of the Month. This month, we are proud to feature artist Kelsey Davis of Wilton, NH:

About the Artist – Kelsey Davis

“Painting grounds me when I’m feeling overwhelmed with life. I sit down at my easel and find myself calmed and focused watching the paint slide across the canvas. Sometimes I’m not sure what I’m about to paint until I pick a color and just start painting. When I was diagnosed with MS I started painting ‘Cosmic Night.’ I didn’t really know it at the time, but looking back on it now, I see it as the sun setting on a part of my life and the darkness closing in with the unknown that comes with MS. I started out painting these bright bold colors and slowly replaced them all with black. Getting a diagnosis of MS is scary at any age let alone at 27. I’ve since then learned that with the love and support I have from my amazing husband; the sun will continue to rise again.”
