Each year, we feature the work of artists affected by multiple sclerosis in our annual MSAA Art Showcase. We receive many wonderful submissions from across the country and are delighted to share the work of these artists and their inspirational stories with you, including highlighting one artist each month as our Artist of the Month. This month, we are proud to feature artist Leslie Pino Durant of Jemez Springs, NM:
About the Artist – Leslie Pino Durant
“When MS hit me, it was debilitating at first but with medical and self-care, I am very fortunate to say that now my MS is just a nuisance. As it kept creeping into my life, I had to find something to do to take my mind off of it. Painting gave me a sense of calm and distraction. Now, it’s not just a distraction but something that is my passion. I can sit for hours painting, collaging, and creating in bright colors. I don’t think about MS. When creating, I am stress free — just happiness and peace.”
