Meet the Board

MSAA strives to be a leading resource for the entire MS community by improving lives today through vital services and support – and we could not accomplish this without the help of our volunteer board members. MSAA’s Board of Directors is comprised of accomplished professionals from across the country who volunteer their time to further MSAA’s mission. With our ongoing series, Meet the Board, we hope to introduce you to our wonderful volunteer board members!

This month, MSAA is proud to highlight board member Paula Nitto, CPA, and a member of the Audit and Finance Committee at MSAA.

Professional Background: Paula Nitto is the CFO of Axis Global overseeing Finance & Accounting, HR, IT, Administration and Legal. Prior to joining Axis, she was the Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Finance for NYK Line (NA), Inc., a Japanese Global Shipping and Logistics Carrier, for over 16 years. Paula was also the first woman appointed to the board of directors in the history of NYK (North America). Paula is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in New York State and began her career in public accounting with Coopers and Lybrand (PwC) serving financial services, insurance and telecommunication. She later transitioned to various management positions at a telecommunications company before becoming a CFO of an architectural firm.

What inspired you to join MSAA’s Board of Directors?

“As proud as I am of my career as a Finance Executive and CPA, I have struggled with the fact as to how I am making a difference within my professional field in someone’s life and well-being? I am not in a profession, like a doctor for example, who helps make an impact in someone’s life each and every day.

When I heard about MSAA through my colleague, I became instantly drawn to the company’s mission and how they were making a difference here and now and not just tomorrow. This is one organization that is truly impacting others in real time and I knew that it was a perfect fit and that I can make a difference!

My inspiration to join MSAA was to leverage my finance background and help continue to grow the necessary funding and support needed to help continue to expand the organization as it impacts an entire population of individuals.”

What are your goals as an MSAA Board Member?

“As a board member, my goal is to help direct the organization to succeed in helping those individuals and their families in dealing with the daily challenges affecting them due to their MS.

Utilizing my experience in finance and management, my goal is to assist in providing a strong foundation for MSAA to provide the tools required in delivering the services to the MS community.”

Editor’s Note: MSAA is extremely proud and honored to enlist the support of Paula Nitto and all of our dedicated Board Members who volunteer their time, expertise, compassion, and leadership to help us achieve our mission of improving lives today for the entire MS community. We are very grateful for their service and look forward to their continued support as we strive to serve more people in more places than ever before. Thank you once again Paula!
