MSAA strives to be a leading resource for the MS community by improving lives today through vital services and support – and we could not accomplish this without the help of our volunteer board members. MSAA’s Board of Directors is comprised of accomplished professionals from across the country who volunteer their time to further MSAA’s mission. With our ongoing series, Meet the Board, we hope to introduce you to our wonderful volunteer board members!
This month, MSAA is proud to highlight our newest board member Andrew Woo, MD, PhD.
Professional Background: Dr. Andrew Woo is in private practice at Santa Monica Neurological Consultants and serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Neurology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Listed as one of America’s Top Physicians by the Consumer Research Council of America, Dr. Woo also serves on the Navigating MS International Steering Committee for the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America.
What inspired you to join MSAA’s Board of Directors?
“I was honored and excited to be asked to join the team because all of my prior interactions with the MSAA have been very positive, rewarding, and inexplicably fun. The patient and physician program platforms that I have been involved with have been quite varied, but always allowed great freedom and entrusted me to cover broad topics, as well as dive into seldom discussed topics that may be impactful for the audience.
Formats of programs were also innovative and provocative, whether bringing together insurers with healthcare providers into the same octagon, or hosting crossfire debates about controversial MS hot topics. I found this refreshing and oddly unique compared to other organizations, academic centers, or pharmaceutical companies. I realized over the years that it was a reflection on MSAA as a whole-that it was a very patient-centric group that wanted to deliver clear, unfettered messaging, in an efficient and useful way.”
What are your goals as an MSAA Board Member?
“I can only hope to somehow add some positive baby footprints to the trails already blazed by MSAA and look forward to the journey.”
Editor’s Note: MSAA is extremely proud and honored to enlist the support of Dr. Woo and all dedicated Board Members who volunteer their time, expertise, compassion, and leadership to help us achieve our mission of improving lives today for the entire MS community. We are very grateful for their service and look forward to their continued support as we strive to serve more people in more places than ever before. Thank you once again Andrew!
Dr. Woo is beyond THE BEST!! So happy he has joined this establishment. He makes me want to follow you in every way. You have made an outstanding choice.
