About the Artist – Lisa Doggett

“Lisa Doggett was diagnosed with MS in 2009. Despite several relapses and lingering symptoms, she hasn’t let MS slow her down. She works as a family and lifestyle medicine physician in Austin, Texas, and she travels every chance she gets, trying to capture everything through the lens of her camera and in the pages of her journal. Art has always been an important part of her life, and she loves to paint and make collages and mosaics. She is also a writer and recently published a memoir, ‘Up the Down Escalator: Medicine, Motherhood, and Multiple Sclerosis,’ about her transformation from doctor to patient with MS while running a clinic for people without insurance. She lives near downtown Austin with her husband and their two daughters.
