MSAA strives to be a leading resource for the MS community by improving lives today through vital services and support – and we could not accomplish this without the help of our volunteer board members. MSAA’s Board of Directors is comprised of accomplished professionals from across the country who volunteer their time to further MSAA’s mission. With our ongoing series, Meet the Board, we hope to introduce you to our wonderful volunteer board members!
This month, MSAA is proud to highlight our newest board member Ann Baird Bishop, Esq.
Professional Background: Ann Baird Bishop joined Hall Booth Smith P.C. in 2019 where she represents employers and insurers in the area of workers’ compensation, an area she has practiced almost exclusively since 1981. She is the recipient of the 2017 Distinguished Service Award from the Workers’ Compensation Section of the State Bar of Georgia and she received the Justice Benham Award for Community Service in 2018.
What inspired you to join MSAA’s Board of Directors?
“I was flattered to be considered by the MSAA Board as a member based on the recommendation of Jim Anderson whom I admire as much as any lawyer I have ever known. At the time Jim called me to discuss my possibly joining the Board, one of my children was being worked up for symptoms which included a differential diagnosis of MS. It seemed that it was meant that I should get involved. Moreover, my adorable, brave nephew was diagnosed with Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy. I have seen up close how much it means to those with diseases like MD and MS to have help. I want to be part of helping ameliorate some of the problems those with MS face.”
What are your goals as an MSAA Board Member?
“I am just beginning to see where I may be most helpful to MSAA. At this point, which is very early in my tenure, I would like to see about identifying more individuals who have the resources and interest in partnering with MSAA and I would like to find ways to help increase awareness of our organization. I am interested in attending the fashion show in New Jersey and hope to drum up interest in having a similar event in Atlanta or elsewhere in the Southeast. I want to be an ambassador for MSAA in all I do in my day to day life and work and to remember to try to bring it to the attention of everyone with whom I interact.”
