Jessica Vega – January 2021 Artist of the Month

Each year, MSAA features the work of artists affected by multiple sclerosis in our annual MSAA Art Showcase. We also highlight one artist each month as our Artist of the Month. This month, we are proud to feature artist Jessica Vega of Ooltewah, TN:

About the Artist

I was an art teacher for 12 years before I was diagnosed with MS in 2018. I have always expressed myself through art, doing many self-portraits and figure drawings and paintings over the years. I love working with oil paints, pastels, and more recently getting into collage work.

Even though my MS symptoms include numbness in my hands, I work when I can and try not to let the diagnosis stop me from doing what that I love. Art is a form of therapy for me, and it will always be a part of my life, even with MS.
