Romanticizing A Slow Summer

Ah, summer. This time of year tends to have connotations that having exciting plans, going on adventures, and traveling, is essential. Now don’t get me wrong, experiencing the season to its fullest can be fantastic, however, having a memorable summer doesn’t mean that traveling to lavish places or splurging on expensive excursions is necessary. In fact, you don’t need much to create a noteworthy summer. Focusing on the small things of life can really bring about so much joy and peace.

Personally, as a person planning a wedding and moving to a new home while juggling the increasing expenses of life, prioritizing low spending this season is key. For this reason, I have been remaining creative in the ways that I can enjoy the summer season before it’s over.

  • Have a movie marathon at home. Hosting a movie night, big or small, can be so exciting and there are so many aspects to be creative with! Depending on the genre and type of movie, a theme can even be applied to décor, attire, food choices, and lighting, to really set the tone for an immersive and fun experience at home.
  • Try a new creative outlet. Take this time to explore your interests! Try a new recipe, practice an instrument, host a paint night, or start a new book. There are so many at-home activities to try that can broaden your talents and experiences.
  • Visit local attractions. Taking a trip to explore a new museum, beach, zoo, amusement park, restaurant, or any place of interest is a great way to see new spots that are close to home. Many places may even have online promotions with more affordable pricing options, if you are planning ahead.
  • Utilize free experiences. Take some time to research local events or attractions that are free of charge. You may find that nearby fairs or parks have discounted or free admission on certain days.

There are so many opportunities to try something new this summer – all from the comfort of your home! All it takes is some creativity and willingness to step outside of your norm. And most importantly, try to remain open-minded and present. The world moves so fast, which can easily create a sense of urgency and impatience. If possible, try to take a step back from those fast-paced emotions, and enjoy the activity and time at hand. You may even find yourself much more at peace and focused. All in all, I’m wishing you a slow, content, and relaxed summer!
