MSAA features the work of many talented artists affected by multiple sclerosis as part of our annual MSAA Art Showcase. Each month we share these artists’ inspiring stories and beautiful artwork with you as our Artist of the Month. This month, we celebrate Katy Maiolatesi as the January Artist of the Month. Katy is from Lansing, MI.

“I was recently diagnosed with MS this past year, and this is my first time drawing since then. After a long hiatus, I got into pencil sketching again during the early pandemic and I was delighted to see my abilities were still there (with and without MS!). I love to strive for realism, and it is such a joy to see it through. Now that I am confident in my drawing, even with some weakness in my right hand, I am inspired to create more pieces in the future.”
