About the Artist – Gretchen Steele

Gretchen Steele is a lifelong resident of Southern Illinois who has been living with MS for over 20 years. Throughout her MS journey, she has found great solace in creating various works of art. While her primary medium has long been photography, she recently began exploring the new and emerging creative side of AI-Generated artwork, also known as Synthography, utilizing the Midjourney platform. As an award-winning writer, she finds it a fascinating way to create images using the written word. As someone living with MS, she knows how our brains often process things differently. The emerging medium of Synthography allows her to combine her love of storytelling, poetry, and photography into a single creative outlet. Her submitted selections are from her collection/project, “Dreaming of Orchids.”
