About Samantha Schech

I am a Client Service Specialist here at MSAA. I have my Master's Degree in Social Service from Bryn Mawr College, a school just outside of Philadelphia. Originally from the Baltimore area, I am a huge Baltimore sports fan and am often heard cheering for the Ravens and Orioles. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, traveling, and playing kickball with my friends in an adult sports league.

Let Me Introduce Myself

Hello MS bloggers!! My name is Samantha. I am the newest member of the Client Services team here at the MSAA. I am more than excited to begin this journey exploring the complex world of multiple sclerosis (MS). I am eager to learn from you and hear your individual stories.

I would like to share a quote with you all. In my office hangs a scroll printed with my daily mantra, my “words to live by” my inspiration to do good things in this world. The quote is from the Dalai Lama, titled A Precious Human Life.

“Every day, think as you wake up:

Today I am fortunate to have woken up.
I am alive, I have a precious human life.
I am not going to waste it.

I am going to use
all my energies to develop myself,
to expand my heart out to others,
to achieve enlightenment for
the benefit of all beings.

I am going to have
kind thoughts towards others.
I am not going to get angry,
or think badly about others.

I am going to benefit others
as much as I can.”

These words provide comfort to me. The quote helps to move me forward during a difficult day, or slow me down to help appreciate life. Whenever I encounter a new struggle, I look to this quote to provide support and security.

Thank you in advance for sharing your stories throughout this blog. I look forward to hearing more from you!
